The Sexual Implications of Manners

On the Care and Feeding of Woman

The Machiavellian Minister

Due out Mid-May

The Sexual Implications of Manners: What started as a silly little psycho-sexual theory between best friends took on a life of its own when shared with another friend during a trip to New Orleans.  Life for Brenda and me would change dramatically when P.J. disclosed her secret life and then offered to do the research on my theory through her . . . well her encounters, irrespective of objections voiced by both Brenda and me.

On the Care and Feeding of Woman: When caged parrots do not receive needed attention and nurturing, they self-mutilate by pulling out their feathers and cutting themselves with their razor-sharp beaks.  Not unlike them, women who find them-selves in relationships that are not nurturing also self-mutilate as they try to find comfort in food and other self-destructive activities.  This compilation of poetry addresses situations of deprivation in a relationship with a person who had not bothered to read a book "on the care and feeding of woman"; It also includes fantasies of fulfillment as well as musings on other losses that women experience.

The Machiavellian Minister: "Memories are funny things. Sometimes they are very elusive, your attempts to put your mind around something in the past are nothing more than exercises in futility - sort of like grasping at vapor or chasing the wind . . . You have no control over what you dredge up . . . not all memories are meant to be recollected . . . It's not safe."   An adult survivor of poly-victimization experiences a chance face-to-face encounter with one of her abusers, which leads to overdue justice.
